Description

RCP Pipeline Conversion to DN600 Multi-Bank Corrugated Pipeline.

Project Overview:

As part of the development of a new haul road, Evolution Mining required a robust underground pipeline solution capable of supporting extreme load conditions. The haul road would be a critical transport corridor for fully loaded quad road trains moving materials regularly across the mine site.

To ensure long-term performance under heavy traffic and variable site conditions, Evolution Mining partnered with Hydra Storm to design a multi-bank DN600 corrugated pipeline system. The project demanded a durable and efficient solution that could be delivered within tight timeframes and align with the overall haul road construction schedule.

Products:

  • 600 SN8 Hydra Storm rHDPE Corrugated RRJ 5.901m

Challenges:

  • Extreme Load Bearing: The pipeline would be installed beneath a brand-new haul road subject to constant use by fully loaded quad road trains, necessitating a high-load-capacity design.
  • Design for Longevity: As part of a new infrastructure investment, the solution had to offer minimal maintenance requirements and long-term resilience.
  • Time-Sensitive Execution: Installation had to synchronise with haul road construction timelines to avoid delays in road commissioning.

Solution Provided by Hydra Storm:
Hydra Storm delivered a tailored multi-bank DN600 corrugated pipeline system, engineered specifically to handle the operational demands of a high-traffic mining corridor. Key aspects of the solution included:

  • Corrugated Pipe Performance: The DN600 corrugated pipes offered exceptional structural integrity and flexibility, ideal for dispersing the load impacts from frequent heavy vehicle traffic.
  • Multi-Bank Configuration: The use of multiple parallel pipes increased flow capacity and distributed load stress more evenly, enhancing overall system performance.
  • Efficient Installation: Hydra Storm’s streamlined installation approach minimised disruption to the haul road construction schedule, ensuring timely project delivery.

Results:

  • Load-Bearing Success: The installed pipeline has met all performance expectations, reliably supporting quad road train traffic with no compromise to structural integrity.
  • Infrastructure Readiness: The pipeline installation was completed on schedule, allowing the haul road to be commissioned on time and without incident.
  • Client Satisfaction: Evolution Mining commended Hydra Storm for their responsive approach, technical expertise, and seamless project execution.

Conclusion:

Hydra Storm’s successful delivery of a multi-bank DN600 corrugated pipeline beneath Evolution Mining’s new haul road underscores its capability to design and implement heavy-duty drainage infrastructure in demanding mining environments. By combining innovation with practical execution, Hydra Storm helped enable a critical logistics route for one of Australia’s leading mining operators.

Rethinking Conventional Stormwater Infrastructure

Traditional materials like concrete, steel, and clay may once have been trusted, but their weight, rigidity, and susceptibility to corrosion are increasingly mismatched with the demands of modern, sustainable infrastructure. Hydra Storm SN8 Corrugated rHDPE stormwater pipes, made entirely from rHDPE—combine strength, flexibility and reliability to offer a circular and sustainable alternative.

Global & Local Trends: The Shift Toward Sustainable Infrastructure

Worldwide, infrastructure projects are increasingly favouring rHDPE solutions for their environmental credentials and long-term value. Our pipes meet modern performance standards while aligning with evolving circular economy goals.

In Australia, where water scarcity and resilient infrastructure are pressing concerns, rHDPE pipes offer a smart solution: lightweight for remote and urban installs, adaptable across diverse terrains, and aligned with ESG mandates and sustainable engineering practices.

Why rHDPE Corrugated Pipes Outperform the Rest

Lightweight & Effortless Installation

Our rHDPE pipes are significantly lighter than concrete counterparts, enabling safer, more efficient transport and installation with minimal machinery. This translates to streamlined projects and lower on-site labour requirements.

Exceptional Durability & Longevity

Made from rHDPE, our pipes resist corrosion, UV-induced degradation, and chemical attacks—ensuring reliable performance across decades. Their lifespan often extends beyond 100 years, minimising replacement and maintenance programmes.

Flexible & Resilient Design

The dual-wall corrugated structure offers exceptional load resistance while the smooth interior promotes efficient water flow. Combined with rHDPE’s flexibility, these pipes adapt to shifting ground without compromise—perfect for challenging terrain and evolving landscapes.

Built for Sustainability

By utilising waste HDPE, our pipes reduce reliance on virgin materials and support the circular economy. Production requires notably less energy and emits fewer carbon emissions than traditional materials, contributing to lower environmental impact across the supply chain.

Reliable, Low-Maintenance Infrastructure

Fewer joints, simple rubber ring installation, and inherent material strength mean fewer leaks, less maintenance, and consistent system performance over time.
